Lifesaver

There are some people who were placed on this earth specifically to encourage, embolden, and invigorate the lives of others. People such as MLK Jr., Gandhi, are obvious mentions, but names like Jordan and Jobs also belong on the list. Anyone whose life serves as an inspiration to many should be included on the list. Because of the way they live millions of others are inspired and enabled to live to the fullest.

Today another name has been added to that list. It is the name of a man who saves the life of at least 1 child every single day. Think about that! Every single day this man keeps at least 1 child from dying! Is that not a remarkable and inspiring story?
Friends, it is with humility and pride that I announce to you that the man I speak of is none other than me. Yes, it's true. I, Meshach T. Kanyion, am a bonafide hero. I'm not like superman with his bright attention grabbing outfit, or batman with his weird voice and batsignal. Those are just attempts that say, "Look at me, I'm special!" No, I'm much more humble than those braggadocious characters. I don't need comic books, movies, a strong chin or even a 6-pack. I just go about my business like a humble servant of those in need. I need no recognition.
Every single day I wake up knowing that a heroic occasion will present itself, and knowing this I prepare myself. Why only a few moments ago my son (who just turned 1) tried to swallow a pen he took from my pocket. My daughter, who thinks she can fly, tries daily to go down the stairs even though she can't walk. It's not a few times a day that I jump up from my hard work to rescue them from certain danger.
Yes, it is a thankless job (because they can't yet speak) but I do it, not for the thanks, but because it's who I am. And that is a Superdad.
Fear not person who is reading this and wants to bestow honor upon my head. I am keeping a tally of all the times I have saved their lives. One day they will say, "Dad, you never do anything for us!" On that day I will laugh a hearty laugh while pulling out my captain's log. And I will say, "Oh really? Remember the time you tried to jump out of your high chair? You wanna know who caught you? Superdad, that's who."
Let my story inspire you to also be super. Gotta go, my daughter is trying to eat my phone charger. Back to work for me.
