The Peace of Christmas

So the other day me and my family jumped the day-after-Thanksgiving-day gun and listened to Christmas music on Pandora.  It wasn't necessarily a "gospel" Christmas station, but then again, it's not really Christmas music if there isn't a bit of good news in it, right?  Anyway, I began thinking about how wonderful Christmas is.  Everyone is a little more pleasant, it's truly the most wonderful time of the year.  Now there are many sources for this sense of peace and joy (even if it's a carnal and ultimately ending peace and joy for most), but I think the music has a lot to do with it.  Not just because Christmas music is awesome and it reminds all of us about a happy time past, but because we eventually sing or hear a song about the Prince of Peace.  The station I linked above is not a "Christian" station, but almost every other song mentioned Jesus in some regard.  Could it be that singing the praises of God affects the environment?  I think so.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.  Music is powerful to change an environment, both for good or for evil.  It worked for Paul and Silas, it works for football teams every Sunday, it works for me when I'm driving home from a hectic work day, and I think it works for about 6 weeks out of the year when we begin anticipating Dec. 25th, a day when me and mine celebrate the birth of the King.  Go ahead and listen to some Christmas music today.

God's Peace to you!

Merry Christmas! (I know, I'm super early. But who cares!)

God's extremely foolish Court Jester.
